COLORADO SPRINGS/DENVER, CO – Griffis/Blessing employees celebrated National Volunteer Month by participating in their fifth annual “Volunteer Day” Friday, April 7th, by spending the day working with non-profit organizations in lieu of their normal daily activities. Members of the corporate, Multifamily, and Commercial groups donated their time and energy to one of nine non-profit organizations located in Colorado Springs and Denver.

At the American Cancer Society, (https://www.cancer.org/about-us/local/colorado.html), volunteers assisted in organizing and cleaning the office.

Volunteers spent the morning at the Care & Share warehouse, (www.careandshare.org), helping to sort and box pallets of food to be shipped out to the community.

The final morning team of volunteers helped Silver Key Senior Services, https://www.silverkey.org/ with organizing the food pantry and sacking food!

One group of volunteers spent time at the Colorado Springs Habitat for Humanity ReStore helped with construction projects as well as sorting and organizing large donations, store shelves and the outdoor drop off area. (www.habitatrestorepp.com)

A new organization that we worked with this year was Partners in Housing, (http://partnersinhousing.org/), and the team assisted with removing counters and installing new desks in the computer resource center, and moving and restocking shelves.

The final Colorado Springs non-profit that a team worked with was also new this year, Special Kids Special Families, (http://sksfcolorado.org/). The volunteers assisted in washing buses, yard work, and cleaning the kitchen area.

In Denver, volunteers headed to the Ronald McDonald House to clean apartments and community areas for the residents (www.ronaldhouse.org/).

A second team of Denver volunteers worked at Golden Retriever Rescue (www.goldenrescue.com) doing general property cleanup, landscaping and playing with the dogs.

Finally, a group headed out in the afternoon to participate in the Yard Angels project (https://www.voacolorado.org/volunteer-opportunities/yard-angels), helping seniors with yard work at two different homes.

“Volunteering has always been a part of Griffis/Blessing tradition and we are honored to have the opportunity to support local organizations in the communities we are involved in,” says William J “B.J.” Hybl Jr., President and COO. “We are thrilled with the success and continually growing interest from employees to participate in the annual event and suggest new organizations for us to partner with.”
